Liturgy

LITURGY COMMISSION:

Umbrella group which coordinates liturgical planning and liturgical ministries.

LITURGICAL MUSIC:

Vocal Choirs and Musicians - Provide the music at all weekend liturgies and as needed for funeral liturgies.
Includes:

LECTORS:

Lectors serve the worshiping community through proclaiming the Word of God at liturgical celebrations. This includes the pre-Gospel scripture readings, the petitions, and the closing announcements during Mass. Attendance at a special training program is required. High school age through adults are welcome. Those who participate as lectors should have a desire and skill for proclaiming the Word of God. Part of the preparation includes prayer, meditation on the Word of God and practice. If you are interested in participating in this ministry, please contact Deacon Bill

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION:

Eucharistic Ministers are members of the parish community (aged 18 and over) who help distribute the Holy Eucharist at Mass. Some ministers also bring communion to the sick and homebound. Ministers must be approved by the pastor, attend a training session and then they are commissioned by the pastor to serve in the parish. If you are interested in this ministry or are in need of Communion brought to you, please call the rectory office.

GIFT BEARERS:

At every weekend Mass or special liturgy, the sacristan or Deacon will ask a parish family to participate by bringing forward the bread and wine to the altar during the Mass. To volunteer, see the deacon before the Mass begins.

LITURGICAL LINENS:

Provides services of washing, ironing, and mending altar linens and server albs. Provides sewn baptismal robes.

CHURCH DECORATING

Parish volunteers gather at church a few times during the year to decorate the church for changes in the liturgical year (ie Christmas, Lent, Easter).

CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD:

Sunday during 8:30 am and 11am Mass (Sept - May). Provides children (grades K thru 4) teaching on the Sunday gospel readings.

ALTAR SERVERS:

Altar Servers assist the priest during the Mass and other liturgical celebrations. All youth of the parish (5th graders and older) are invited to be a part of this ministry. Training sessions are held to prepare for this minsitry. The scheduling is done by the rectory office and servers are rotated and serve at a variety of mass times. Please contact Deacon Bill for more information.

ANGEL DUSTERS:

Volunteer teams maintain a rotating weekly commitment to do ‘light’ cleaning of the church. Efforts include dusting, clearing pews of leftover papers, watering floral arrangements, cleaning glass doors etc.

USHERS/GREETERS:

It is the responsibility of the ushers/greeters to create and maintain a climate of hospitality at Mass.  They welcome people as they enter the church and acquaint visitors or new parishioners with facilities and services available. They give assistance by helping with seating, gathering the offertory collection and by providing other special services.  Ages teen thru adult are welcome. Please contact the parish office to volunteer for this ministry.
